Murchison Falls National Park is a very attractive national park in the northwest of Uganda. A visit to this remarkable Park is full of joy and fun along with long lasting memories.
The entire view of this beautiful savannah park is just breathtaking and will leave you in awe, only praising the beauty of the Pearl of Africa. The Park can be visited all year round and it’s you to decide on the number of days you will spend in the Park, according to your itinerary. Below is how one can spend his/her two nights in this mighty national park:
Day 1: Transfer to the park:
From the airport or lodge, you will drive like 3 hours from Kampala to the only rhino refuge in Uganda, the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The sanctuary is the only protected area in Uganda where one can track the wild rhinos in their natural habitat.
The sanctuary is situated on the highway that leads to Murchison Falls National Park. You will therefore have a great opportunity to spot all the big five species when you visit Murchison Falls National Park.
From the rhino sanctuary, you will drive further to access the Park. Spend your first night at the Pakuba Safari Lodge where you will first eat supper immediately before going to bed.
Day 2: Game drives and boat cruise:
You will wake up in the morning and have breakfast at 6am. Immediately after your breakfast, you will drive to the jungle and enjoy the memorable game drives and game views in one of Uganda’s most beautiful national parks. Here you will see a variety of wildlife species and bird species including the much-in-demand Shoebill bird.
Among the guaranteed wildlife species to spot on your game drive include; savannah elephants, cape buffaloes, hippos, water-bucks, topis, Rothschild’s giraffes, Uganda Kobs, Jackson’s hartebeests, bush bucks. Luckily you will also spot the lions and leopards on your game drive.
After your morning game drive, you will return to the lodge at midday and take off the day’s warmth in the lodge’s elegant swimming pool.
You will after go for lunch at the lodge’s stylish restaurant and then head to Paraa to indulge in the fascinating boat cruise beneath the eye-catching Murchison Falls, on Africa’s longest river – River Nile.
On your boat cruise along River Nile, you will spot very many mesmerizing attractions. You will see many water birds like the Kingfishers and many more plus very many animals, such as; the Nile Crocodiles, Hippos, and very many animals on the shores such as elephants, and buffaloes.
After the memorable boat cruise you will to the jungle for evening game drive and then pop back to the lodge for supper and the overnight.
Day 3: Visit the top of Murchison Falls:
The Park was named after its special attraction, the great Murchison Falls, and visiting the top of the falls is always the best part of visiting this Park. At the top, you will enjoy stunning views of the gushing of waters at a very high temperature, which is all breathtaking and eye-catching.
From here, you will then go to your next destination as your itinerary states. You can either go to the western national parks, Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for the unforgettable mountain gorilla expeditions, Kibale Forests National Park for the fantastic chimpanzee excursions and Queen Elizabeth National Park for sighting the amazing tree climbing lions and many other wildlife and attractions.
Or you can go to the Rwenzori Mountains National Park for the memorable mountaineering safaris on Uganda’s highest mountain peak. Or even you can go to the magnificent Kidepo Valley National Park to enjoy more wildlife viewing.
