Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is built out of local material, using locally sourced papyrus mat for ceiling and wooden floors with a touch of volcanic rock and corrugated iron sheets to support rainwater harvesting; which is the main water source at the lodge.
The Lodge operates “In Harmony with Nature” and on a “Carbon Neutral footprint”, working with its guests to preserve the environment through its go–green endeavors. All guests are encouraged to come with their own water bottles (for hiking activities) which will be refilled from the main dining area.
Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is a safari lodge located 2,161 meters (7,087 feet) high on Nteko Ridge overlooking the beautiful swath of the World-renowned Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The ridge provides a superb vantage across the Kashasha River Valley to the forested hill known as ‘Nkuringo’ and the surrounding swathe of trees of Bwindi Forest.
The Nkuringo section of forest is home to the three Mountain Gorilla families, from where the Lodge provides a prime access point to the start of the amazing gorilla trekking activity. The Lodge has panoramic views of the majestic volcanoes of the Virunga chain, across the escarpment into the Albertine Rift Valley within the DRC Congo.
Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, formerly Nkuringo Gorilla Camp, has organically grown over the years from a campsite in 2007 to fully-fledged lodge and now name ‘Uganda’s leading Safari Lodge at the World Travel Awards in 2016,2017,2018,2019.
The Lodge prides itself on its green credentials and through its various initiatives including solar energy and rainwater harvesting proudly operates as a carbon neutral lodge. In order to reduce on use of plastic in the Lodge, it provides water in Jars and encourages all clients to come with their water bottles that they can refill from the dinning.

Set on Nteko ridge on the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, with some cottages and villas overlooking the swath of the Bwindi forest, Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge accommodation is an ultimate African jungle getaway that immerses you in nature’s harmony.
Each cottage is built with nature’s own supplies and positioned where privacy does not elude your stay. Villas showcase the golden sunrise over the misty clouds in the far distant jugged mountain silhouettes and some of the garden cottages showcase the African golden sunset with Virunga, and Gahinga mountains painting the backdrop while the tip of Rwenzori Mountains peeps out in view.
The evening on any of the room terraces is a mother-load of magical experiences that’ll never leave your consciousness, mist blows from the valley like a silent whisper over the lodge and if you put out your hand can feel the soft droplets bounce off your palm.
The property comprises of 16 rooms each built in with a fireplace that is lit up every evening for your warmth. At the rear of each cottage is spacious bathroom decorated in stone tile, fitted with a shower (hot & cold) and double basins. Wooden tiled floors, styled ceilings and jungle art adorn the spacious rooms with a sitting area and a king-size or queen-size bed in each room.
