Sipi River Lodge, Mt Elgon National Park

Sipi River Lodge is a luxurious accommodation facility that provides comfort and relaxation while on your Uganda safari, especially in Eastern Uganda – Mountain Elgon National Park and the Sipi Falls. Sipi River Lodge’s work is guided by an overlying philosophy that for tourism to benefit all it must be sustainable. The staff and local community are at the forefront of the lodge’s decision making and as thoughtful stewards of its land works to maintain a small environmental footprint.

Set within the grounds of a unique restored former residence, Sipi River Lodge consists of a main house and seven detached accommodations for the guests, each individually designed with a thoughtful perspective on the backdrop of Kapsurur Falls.

Within this picturesque setting you will experience intimate fireside dining, a comfortable reading lounge, an airy veranda, and a bar stocked with beers, wines, and a fine selection of single malt whisky.

Sipi River Lodge’s location in the foothills of Mount Elgon, famous for three spectacular waterfalls, is home to an incredible number of bird species, some of the best Arabica coffee in the world, and magical sunsets. Join in for an afternoon tea and cake after a beautiful waterfall hike and refuel with the facility’s hearty home-style meals that celebrate the local produce.

Sipi River Lodge provides various accommodation styles. All accommodations are situated close to the main house. Within the main house, here guests will find an intimate dining room with a log fire, stylish bar, comfortable reading lounge, and airy veranda.

The lodge grows some of its own vegetables and fruits in its garden and this is reflected throughout the season on its menu. Other items such as cheeses and meats we source locally. All breads and cakes are made by the lodge’s staff and are served fresh. Being located in one of the world’s finest coffee growing areas, it sources all its coffee from the community (as well as its own garden!) and prepares it on-site.

A little secret up here in Sipi is that in the bar you will find a selection of around 14 different whiskies – they try and keep a stock of eight or more of the favorite single malts. It is a great choice to have on a cold evening after a full day of hiking, and if you can’t choose you may just have to try them all!
